by air
Kathmandu
can be reached directly by flight from London,
Paris, Frankfurt, Shanghai and Osaka. One can
also fly directly into Kathmandu from Hong Kong,
Bangkok, Singapore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Varanasi
and New Delhi. Other direct air services to Kathmandu
include Moscow, Lhasa, Paro, Dubai, Dhaka and
Karachi. For large movements, charter flights
can also be arranged.
Airfares are to be paid in foreign currency by
foreign nationals. Only Nepalese and Indian nationals
are permitted to pay in rupees for air passage
between Nepal and India.
Travelling
by road
There
are five official entry points to Nepal besides
Tribhuvan International Airport: Biratnagar (near
Rani Sikiyahi), Birgunj (near Raxaul), Kodari
(on the Chinese border), Bhairahawa (near Sunauli),
and Kakarbhitta which connects Nepal with Darjeeling,
Sikkim and Siliguri. Birgunj is the most popular
entry point for visitors. Entry into Lhasa through
Kodari is possible for visitors who posses visas
for China. Motor vehicles in Nepal are driven
on the left side of the road.
Some
Important: Don't or Do's
• A tourist may stay in Nepal upto 150 days
in a visa year (Jan-Dec).
• A tourist must extend his/her visa before
expiry of the visa validity period.
• A tourist who does not comply with these
regulations may be liable of fine and other prosecution
as provided in Immigration Act and Rules.
• A Foreigner having obtained tourist visa
shall not allowed to work with or without receiving
remuneration.
• A foreigner shall not be allowed to carry
out any work other than that for which purposes/he
has obtained the visa.
